Unlike road races, where the viewing opportunities are limited, criteriums offer constant action, speed, and the chance to get really close to the racers. You’ll feel the rush of air when the riders pass by and see drafting, jostling, and even the occasional pileup.

Our race announcers will keep you informed as the race unfolds and there are many mid-race prizes, so when you hear a bell ring watch for the sprint! After the race is over, come over to Lucky Pie to see the awards presentations and get an autograph or two!
Plan on enjoying the old-town while seeing the action of a race and enjoying a festival atmosphere all at the same time. The racers love big and loud crowds so more spectators = more excitement for everyone!
Spend the day in old-town Louisville. Come early to see all the different levels of competion. Have your kids participate in the Sweet Cow Kids race, take a shot at the cruiser race, enjoy the Beer Garden at Lucky Pie, eat dinner at Lucky Pie or one of the many other fine options in old-town Louisville and stay to watch the pros.
The Start/Finish line will be the ideal place to watch the race. It’s also a great place to see how a race begins and the excitement of the finish. But, don’t stay there. The course runs through old-town Louisville so walk around and see the action from different corners. Also, take this opportunity to learn more about old-town Louisville and visit some of the great businesses along the course!
When watching the races, please follow these common-sense rules:
- Do not walk or ride on the course at any time. There will be riders and vehicles on the course at all times, including between races.
- Do not lean out over the fence or sit on the curb with your feet in the road. The racers will sometimes use the entire road without warning.
- If you need to cross the racecourse, make sure to look for oncoming cyclists or support vehicles. The cyclists will be moving just as fast as a car would! Usually, the best time to cross during the race is immediately after the pack of riders has gone by. Do not cross near corners where you cannot see oncoming traffic.
- Avoid sitting too near the road in unfenced areas, particularly near sharp turns. Crashes are an occasional occurrence in the races and a rider may fall off the course.
- Pay close attention to small children or pets to prevent their straying onto the race course.
